Tiffany Reynolds
A child pornography investigation that began seven years ago has led to the arrest of a woman living just outside Mahoning County.
Thirty-five-year-old Tiffany Reynolds of Deerfield, Ohio, is accused of texting and emailing a man she met on a dating site images exposing the private parts of a five-year-old child.
Reynolds surrendered on Monday to federal authorities who have charged her with Sexual Exploitation of Children & Production of Child Pornography, and Distribution of Child Pornography.
According to a court document, the investigation began in late 2016 when authorities arrested James Smith of Alabama, who had the pictures of the child and claimed to have received them from a woman he met on a dating website.
With the help of the Nation Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the FBI says their investigation led them to Reynolds, who had moved to Deerfield from South Carolina, where she allegedly took the pictures of the child in 2016. The child is now 13 years old.
Interviewed by an FBI agent and a Portage County Sheriff’s Deputy earlier this month, Reynolds admitted taking and sending approximately ten sexually explicit images to Smith over the dating platform Meet24.
Reynolds remains held in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting a Friday detention hearing in U.S. District Court.
James Smith was sentenced to more than thirteen years in prison for his part in the case.
