The Youngstown Fire Department was called to investigate a natural gas leak in Downtown Youngstown early Monday.
Construction workers told dispatchers that the leak was found just after 6 a.m. in a building at 20 West Federal Street, just west of Wick Avenue.
Firefighters found the leak in a basement in the area of the Food Court which is being renovated on Commerce Street behind the West Federal address.
The gas ignited, causing a small fire, according to firefighters.
A repair crew from Dominion has been called to the scene.
The gas was shut off and the fire was put out. Crews got back to work at about 7 a.m.
