A Farmdale woman was sentenced Monday for what prosecutors describe as "over-the-top" discipline of her children.
According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, Erica Williams 38, received a 180-day jail sentence, 100 hours of community service, and three years basic probation after pleading guilty earlier to a single felony count of attempted endangering children.
The case involved a report of physical abuse of a teenager investigated by sheriff deputies last November.
A woman reported that the adopted teen daughter in the home had been communicating on social media that her parents had been holding her head underwater.
The teen told the judge the episode has left her disoriented and she deals with flashbacks. The teen has since been placed in another home.
Dennis Williams, 47, the husband of Erica, pled guilty to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of endangering children. He is set to be sentenced on Feb. 21.
