Police arrested William Fox after being called to a home on Youngstown's Westside early Friday morning to investigate a report of shots fired.
11 officers went to Eddie St. and other nearby areas due to concerned citizens calling about a fight that involved gunfire. While on route to the scene, officers say they saw a white male on a black dirt bike driving away from the area.
Officers saw that his head was bleeding, and attempted to stop the bike. The driver fled to nearby railroad tracks and got away. Police searched the nearby area and found a jacket on the ground that was dry despite the ground being wet from rain during the day.
Officers returned to Eddie St. and went to the house that was called in about. Drops of blood were found on the concrete walkway that leads to the front door. Near the walkaway closest to the front door one spent 9mm shell casing, a .45 caliber shell casing, and a live 9mm round were found.
Officers also saw multiple bullet holes in the front door. Officers attempted to knock on the door, and after no response an officer entered into the home through an unlocked window.
Once inside, two people were found. A woman, as well as Fox. Officers asked if anyone else was inside the home, and they were told someone was in the upstairs bathroom. Officers found a man laying inside the bathtub with his face covered in blood.
Officers called an ambulance, and helped the man downstairs. He was unable to fully tell officers what happened due to the injuries on his face.
Fox was asked what happened, and he said that an unknown man came up to the house on a dirt bike and began to argue with the man who was found in the bathtub. Fox says the fight became physical, and the man on the dirt bike pulled out a gun.
Fox says the he then went inside, and heard two shots go off. Fox told officers that the man on the dirt bike that fired the gun, and that he didn't know anything else.
The injured man was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for injuries.
Police discovered Fox had active warrants through the city of Youngstown and Campbell. He was taken to Mahoning County Jail.
A rescue squad from the fire department was also dispatched to investigate a possible gas leak at the address.
When police arrived, they found that no one had been wounded in the shooting between two people who had been arguing.
Police say what was thought to be natural gas turned out to be the odor of gasoline.
