Thanks to the state-mandated changes in property valuation, landowners in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are getting additional time to pay their real estate taxes.
According to the county treasurer’s website, the original March 8, 2024, deadline to pay the first half of 2023 taxes has been pushed back until March 18.
Treasurer Dan Yemma says the mailing of tax bills was delayed due to valuation changes and a longer time than normal to receive approval of tax rates.
As a result, the 10% penalty will be imposed on payments received and postmarked on and after March 19.
The last day to pay taxes for the first half of 2023 real estate taxes due without penalty and possible interest is March 18, 2024
The deadline to pay the first half of real estate taxes in Trumbull County is March 22, 2024.
County officials say some tax bills may list a March 1 deadline, but the State Department of Taxation granted an extension while paper bills were being processed and mailed.
The first half of manufactured home taxes are still due March 1 in Trumbull County.
The first half of taxes in Columbiana County were due by Friday, February 16, 2024. There is a 5% penalty on payments made within 10 days past the due date and a 10% penalty on payments made after 10 days past the due date.
