While gas prices aren't exactly where drivers want them to be, it does look like they're dropping - if only slightly.
According to AAA, gas prices in Northeast Ohio were 12 cents lower this week at $3.19 per gallon.
The average price of gas during the week of February 19 was $3.31.
Specifically gas in Niles cost $3.24 and $3.15 in Youngstown.
While today's average is more than what it was a month ago, an analysis by AAA suggests that news of an oil refinery reopening in Indiana after being offline for almost a month due to power issues may have contributed to the recent drop in prices.
The refinery process nearly 440,000 barrels of crude oil daily and its shutdown caused prices to rise throughout the Midwest.
Total domestic gasoline stocks dropped slightly by 300,000 barrels to 247 million barrels. Flat demand amid falling supply helped stabilize the national average this week, according to AAA.
Oil prices rose with a softer dollar and continuing attacks in the red sea, which caused the market to remain concerned that shipping routes will be at risk due to the ongoing hostility in the region.
Additionally, total domestic commercial crude stocks increased by 3.6 million barrels to 443 million barrels last week.
