One person has been arrested following a a police presence at a Boardman home Thursday morning.

21 News crews on scene observed at least one marked Boardman Police Department cruiser, as well as a tactical vehicle in the driveway of a home on the 100 Block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

According to a police report from Boardman PD, police conducted a search warrant at the home just before 9:00 a.m. Thursday. After knocking on the door with no answer, police entered the home through an unlocked door.

According to the report, while searching the home, police eventually found themselves in the attic where they found 30-year-old Brandon Zepernick (pictured below) hiding.

Police say they ordered Zepernick to put his hands behind his back, but he was not compliant and continuously resisted arrest until officers were able to gain control of him.

According to police, once Zepernick was outside the house and was asked if anything illegal was inside, he responded the only thing officers would find is "weed, which is legal now."

However, police say a search of the home revealed a bag with an unknown rock substance, a scale with residue, a burnt metal smoking device, a white crystal substance, two more digital scales with residue, four drug pipes with residue, one cut straw with residue, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, six shotgun shells and other miscellaneous baggies with residue.

Police tested the white crystal substance and unknown rock substance, which yielded negative results for methamphetamine. However, an updated report from April 8 states that further testing from BCI revealed that the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

Zepernick was taken to the Mahoning County Jail where he's charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia. An additional charge of possession of drugs was added once the BCI results came back.
