The Youngstown State men's basketball team came up short against Cleveland State in the Horizon League Quarterfinal Thursday night at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins trailed 44-38 at the half but struggled shooting the ball going 5-31 from three.
YSU cut the deficit to four with 4:15 to go in the second half but couldn't get it any closer as the Vikings held on to win, 82-70.
Senior DJ Burns led YSU with 17 points and 18 rebounds in the loss, while senior Brandon Rush added 15.
For Cleveland State, four players were in double figures led by Chase Robinson with 20 points.
"That's who Cleveland State is, they have great culture, they play really hard and made big plays," said YSU head coach Jerrod Calhoun.
The Penguins finish the season 22-10 overall, while the Vikings advance to the Horizon League semifinals on March 11.
