Valley pizzeria enters plant-based competition at International Pizza Expo

A local pizza franchise is taking its product to the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas.

Pizza Joe's is sending seven representatives to Las Vegas to compete in the largest pizza event in the industry.

The company is entering into the plant-based pizza competition at the expo.

"More and more we are serving customers with lactose sensitivity or dairy allergies, as well as customers who are looking for alternatives to traditional meat and cheese products," Katie Seminara-DeToro said. "We felt the Daiya Foods pizza competition at the expo would be a great opportunity to evaluate plant-based ingredients on our pizzas and gain feedback from a professional panel of judges and pizza-loving peers"

Mahoning Valley Pizza Joe's locations will be well represented with team members from Girard, Liberty, Mineral Ridge, New Castle and New Wilmington all attending.

The International Pizza Expo is March 18-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Pizza Joe's will compete on Wednesday, March 20.
