The Democratic candidate for Ohio's 14th Congressional District has been accused of false voter registration by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

According to a police report, Brian Kenderis, who is running against incumbent Republican Congressman Dave Joyce filed and signed three declarations for candidacy, all stating that he lived at an address in Mentor, Ohio and also registered to vote with this address.

However, deputies say the address he used was actually that of his brother and sister-in-law, who had received mail from the Lake County Board of Elections that Kenderis had registered to vote and lived at the residence.

In reality, deputies say Kenderis actually lives at a different address in Strongsville Ohio and lived in Garfield Heights prior to that. According to deputies, Kenderis has never lived at the Mentor address he filed under.

Deputies say Kenderis refused to speak to detectives regarding the matter.

Kenderis is charged with False Voter Registration, which is a fifth degree felony.

Lake County Board of Elections Director Dante Lewis tells 21 News the case is currently in the Painesville Municipal Court and the Board cannot take any action until a ruling is made.
