Five Family Dollar stores in the Mahoning Valley are set to permanently close their doors this weekend.

According to a letter from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the following Valley locations will be closing their doors Saturday, April 20:

- 4450 Mahoning Avenue, Austintown

- 15978 Cleveland East Liverpool Road, Beloit

- 11045 Main Street, New Middletown

- 8578 Market Street, Boardman

- 615 Walnut Street, East Liverpool

According to the letter, Family Dollar will attempt to offer new positions at nearby stores to employees who express interest.

These closures are part of a nationwide string of closures of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores. In Ohio alone, a total of 265 employees are expected to be laid off due to these closures.

Nearly 1,000 stores are set to close across the country.
