Gun report leads to Police standoff in Sebring

People living in Sebring may have wondered why police converged on a usually quiet neighborhood Thursday night.

Village police say they were called to the 100 block of South Johnson Road just after 7 p.m. after dispatchers were told that a man was pointing a gun at people.

According to a post on the police department’s Facebook page, officers spotted the suspect's gold pickup truck possibly involved when they got there.

With help from Smith Township and the Goshen Police District, officers blocked off roads and surrounded a home where they believed the suspect lived.

After trying to coax the man out of the home using their PA speakers, police ultimately spoke with the man through a window of the house convincing him to give up peacefully.

As of early Friday, police have not released the name of the suspect, or said why he had a gun.
