In Howland, local officials honored the men and women that dedicate their lives to protecting others in the Mahoning Valley.
First responders were honored with the naming of one of the township's bridges, now known as the "Howland First Responders Bridge," on North River Road.
Several officials were in attendance at the event, including Howland Township Trustees, American Legion Post 700 and the first responders from the local police and fire departments that the bridge is being dedicated to.
Also in attendance was American Legion Post 700.
"They put their life on the line, every day," said American Legion Commander John Turner. "You never what kind of call you're going to get...It takes a toll on you as a police officer, firefighter, EMS or paramedic. They deserve to be recognized for what they do."
