Two new charging stations for electric vehicles are on their way to Mahoning County.
Both Tiffany Square Plaza on Route 224 in Boardman and the Sheetz located at 1301 North Bailey Road in North Jackson will be getting EV charging stations. Construction on these new stations are expected to begin between late 2024 and 2025.
According to a press release, these locations are among several selected for round two of funding from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.
Round two will consist of nearly $16 million for 22 new charging stations across the state. That $16 million will be matched with over $4 million from the companies selected to install and operate these charging stations.
According to the release, the installation of these new stations will move Ohio one step closer to its goal of fast chargers every 50 miles throughout the state.
These locations will be no more than one mile from the freeway and will include four charging ports. The two Valley locations being added are located just off of I-680 and I-76 respectively.
