REPORT: Ohio's unemployment rate is higher than the national rate

Ohio's unemployment rate is higher than the national rate.

This according to a new report issued by the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, which was released Thursday, June 20.

The report says that Ohio's unemployment rate sits at 4%, while the national rate is 3.9%.

Back in March, the state's unemployment rate was 3.8%, according to the ODJFS.

Additionally, the labor force participation rate in Ohio for April was 61.8%, while the national rate was 62.7%.

There were also 5,944 initial unemployment claims filed last week, which was 438 fewer than the previous week. For context though, near the end of April there were 5,018 unemployment claims.

Continued unemployment claims totaled 40,632, which is an increase of 1,379 form the week before. This however, is a slight drop from continued unemployment claims in April, which saw 40,730 near the end of the month.
