Folks of Mercer County will have more access to food with the opening of a new food pantry in Jackson Center.

The pantry is located on 28 Walnut Street and was opened by Vincent New Beginnings in partnership with the Mercer County Food Bank.

This is the first food pantry in the area, according to a news release from the Mercer County Food Bank.

Sign-ups for the food pantry will be held June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Additionally, the food pantry will host its grand opening on July 24 at 4 p.m.

"We are honored to be working with Vincent New Beginnings," said Rebecca Page, Executive Director for the Mercer County Food Bank. "Having a distribution partner in part of the county deemed a food desert is a huge win for both the community and those in need of access to nutritious food."
