Plant, Lomax fail to advance at U.S. Olympic Trials

Canfield graduate Nick Plant finished eighth in his heat and 24th overall in the 800 meter semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon Friday night.

Plant ran a time of 1:49.13 and failed to qualify for the final round on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Youngstown State's Jakari Lomax competed in the Triple Jump.

Lomax placed 18th, posting a mark of 15.36m on his first jump, 15.46m on his second jump and he fouled on his third attempt.

The top 12 jumpers advanced to the finals Sunday evening.
