A District Magistrate has refused to set bail for the suspect accused of killing and dismembering a Sharon teenager.

Twenty-nine-year-old Dashawn Dale Watkins is being held in the Mercer County Jail after appearing before District Magistrate Brian Arthur on Wednesday.

Watkins is charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault, and abuse of corpse, in connection with the death of 14-year-old Paul “Pauly” Likens, whose dismembered remains were found in the Shenango Reservoir near the Golden Run Wildlife Area in Clark Borough.

The discovery was made the night of Tuesday, June 25, three days after family members reported that the teen had last been seen.

A search of Pennsylvania court records show no previous criminal charges against Watkins.  One year ago, the Sharon man pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.

Watkins is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Magistrate Travis Martwinski at 10 a.m. on July 17.
