Ellsworth Fire Department has been named the recipient of a $20,428 grant by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The grant is part of more than $86 million awarded by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to support safety across the country.
"We are committed to helping organizations such as Ellsworth Fire Department continue their life saving work," said Robin Peters, Executive Director of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. "We are honored to be able to award this grant and do our part to ensure that Ellsworth Township is safer for everyone, including first responders."
According to a press release, the grant will be used to purchase firefighter turnout gear for the department. The gear will outfit the firefighters with complete "head-to-toe" structural firefighting gear to "help keep the firefighters safe while protecting the community."
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. For almost 19 years, charitable donations have helped Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation support first responders and public safety organizations nationwide.
