Several people from the Mahoning Valley traveled about an hour to Butler County for a Donald Trump rally that turned deadly.

President Trump was shot in the ear and two people, a bystander and the alleged shooter, have died.

Secret Service agents rushed the former president and surrounded him. Moments later they raised him to his feet and moved him from the stage.

Blood could be seen on Trump's right ear and running down his cheek toward his mouth.

21 News spoke with two witnesses who were there when the shots were fired about what they saw and heard.

Jacob Coman, a field representative for Congressman Michael Rulli, was at the event along with Ethan Sicafuse of Boardman.

Sicafuse described the moments when shots rang out.

"We were watching Trump and heard the first shot," Sicafuse said. "I think it hit him and he kind of reached behind his neck and ear. There were two more and he kind of drops down to the ground and then five more of them came about a second or two after that."

It took some time to process that a gunman had fired into the crowd.

"We kind of all just went down," Coman said. "We look over and then all of a sudden President Trump puts his fist up to I guess signal that he was good."

The Republican National Convention is adding more security after the attempted assassination.

"It's definitely something you never want to see happen or experience in your life," Sicafuse said.
