Folks planning on enjoying a night with friends or family at a bar tonight may want to be careful how much they drink.

That's because the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced an OVI checkpoint on State Route 14 in Columbiana County that will take place between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. tonight.

The checkpoint also means that an increase in patrols will be in the area to combat impaired driving, according to the OSHP.

It will be in conjunction with the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department and the Columbiana Police Department.

In 1990 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that holding sobriety checkpoints without first notifying drivers would violate the Constitution's provision barring illegal search and seizure.
