Wednesday was the last day Eastwood Mall patrons could get a new pair of shoes at Foot Locker.

Cafaro Company spokesperson Joe Bell confirmed with 21 News that Wednesday, August 21 would be the last day the Eastwood Mall's Foot Locker store will be in business.

This is one of many Foot Locker stores across the country to close its doors. In 2023, CNN reported that Foot Locker plans to close 400 of its stores by 2026.

According to CNN, this is a move to become more relevant to younger shoppers by relaunching its brands, introducing experimental new store concepts, and simplifying its operations by closing "underperforming" mall locations.

Despite the closure, Bell tells 21 News the Kids Foot Locker store in the Eastwood Mall will remain open and there are currently no plans to close it. 

21 News also reached out to Southern Park Mall General Manager Brian Gabbert who told us he is not aware of any plans to close its Foot Locker store.
