Several dogs and puppies have been rescued from a Leavittsburg home with feces, trash and more scattered throuhgout.

According to a Facebook post from The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, two adult male dogs and one underweight adult female dog all underweight and infested with fleas were rescued from a home on Ruth Avenue in Leavittsburg Thursday night.

Several puppies were also found and rescued. Healthy Hearts and Paws President and CEO Jason Cooke tells 21 News the puppies appeared to be ok.

Additionally, two hamsters and a bearded dragon were found dead in the home.

Cooke tells us the homeowner insisted the bearded dragon was still alive and just didn't want to eat, and when asked about the hamsters, she said she didn't even know they were there.

Cooke went on to describe the conditions of the home stating that there were cockroaches crawling all over, as well as mountains of trash, animal feces, baby diapers and more.

"I think one of the most disturbing things about this was the owner repeatedly stated how bad the conditions of the home were, but yet she still allowed those animals to stay in there," Cooke said.

Cooke says the living animals will be taken to the vet on Friday to be evaluated.

Additionally, Cooke reiterated that the shelter is overwhelmed with animals and can use all the help it can get from donors to adopters to volunteers.

As for the homeowner, Mackenzie Harvey-Ball has been charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty: 11 for the puppies and other dogs; 3 for the dead hamsters and bearded dragon.
