SLIDESHOW: Preparations underway for 178th Canfield Fair

Rides, animals, food, grandstand entertainment and games. On Labor Day Weekend, those words can only mean one thing: The Canfield Fair is kicking off.

Our 21 News crews paid a visit to the fairgrounds Tuesday afternoon to take a look at how preparations for the fair's opening on Wednesday, August 28 were going.

Plenty rides like the iconic Ferris Wheel are up and ready for fairgoers to enjoy.

We also saw food stands set up all around the fairgrounds getting ready to serve up favorites like French fries, elephant ears, deep fried Oreos and of course ice cold lemon shakes.

Additionally, various games were set up with plenty of stuffed and inflatable prizes for players to win.

On top of all that, we came across many animals ready to visit fairgoers including sheep and ducks.

In addition to all of these familiar favorites, Canfield Fair Director of Entertainment and Concessions George Roman tells 21 News there will be some new additions to the fair this year.

These new additions include upgraded internet and Wi-Fi services around the fairgrounds, as well as kiosks around the rides for fairgoers as a more convenient way for fairgoers to get their ride tickets.

"All you have to do is insert your credit card, it'll access you to their system in and out in seconds rather than standing in line for a long period of time," Roman said.

You can take a look at all that was mentioned above and much more in our slideshow above.

The 178th Canfield Fair will take place from Wednesday, August 28 until Monday, September 2. Notable events this year include live performances from country singer Brantley Gilbert on Sunday and rock bands Daughtry, Buckcherry and Hinder on Monday.
