Court employees tell 21 News bond was continued for 38-year-old Banjo Akande, who is accused of burning one of his patients by putting out a cigarette on his arm.

Akande is charged with patient abuse and assault stemming from an incident back in June where police say Akande put out a cigarette on a wheelchair-bound patient's arm burning him.

Police say Akande pulled up to the nursing home in his car, got out and yelled at the patient for smoking and put out the cigarette on his arm followed by asking him "did that hurt?"

According to the report, an employee confronted Akande about this and he did not deny it and responded that the patient should not have been smoking.

A trial date for Akande has been set for September 30. In the meantime, he's ordered to have no contact with the victim.
