A fatal crash occurred in Beaver Township on Tuesday afternoon, leaving a Canfield man dead and several injured.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:50 p.m. on East Western Reserve Road near Victoria Lane.
According to investigators, a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Charles Demetrios, 79, of Canfield, was entering East Western Reserve Road from a private driveway when it was struck on the left side by a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer traveling eastbound.
The Blazer was driven by Matthew Vallas, 34, of New Middletown. Demetrios lost control of his vehicle and drove off the north side of the road, striking several trees. Vallas' Blazer veered off the south side of the road.
Demetrios was transported to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, Waltraud Demetrios, 83, was taken to St. Elizabeth Main Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Vallas and his two juvenile passengers were transported to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
