Suspect charged with murdering woman, wounding teen on Youngstown's Southside

Authorities have charged a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a woman and wounding a teen on Youngstown's Southside last year.

Nineteen-year-old Darnell Lamar Jones is charged in connection with the July 20, 2023, shooting death of 41-year-old Florence Gray.  

Gray and a 17-year-old girl were shot in a driveway on the 100 block of East Avondale Avenue.  Both were taken to a hospital, where Gray was pronounced dead.

Jones, who is currently in the county jail, faces nine charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, attempted murder, and firearm violations.
