Voting by mail to begin in Mercer County October 7, here's all you need to know

Voting by mail is expected to begin in Mercer County Monday, October 7. Here's everything you need to know to vote early this election season.

Unlike Ohio, where early votes can be done in person and ballots are cast and scanned on the same day, the only way to vote early in Pennsylvania is doing so by mail.

In order to vote by mail, Pennsylvanians will need to go to their local Board of Elections office and request a mail-in ballot form. From there, they must fill out that form, which will then be processed. A mail-in ballot will then be issued.

Voters can either mail in their ballot or fill it out at the Board of Elections and drop it off in a ballot box. Those ballots will not be processed until Election Day.

The starting date for requesting mail-in ballots varies by county, but Mercer County Board of Elections Director Thad Hall tells 21 News the starting date in Mercer County is October 7.

Residents will have until Tuesday, October 29 to turn in their mail-in ballots.
