A two year road improvement project in Greenville, Mercer County is expected to begin next week.

Work being done is part of the planned two-year Route 18-Route 58 Improvement Project.

Drivers can expect lane restriction on Route 18 from the intersection with Route 358 to Packard Avenue and Route 58. They will begin around 6 a.m. and go through 6 p.m. Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.

The goal of the project is to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety as well as intersection efficiency throughout the corridor, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The first year of the project focused on roadway-based repairs and paving Route 18 from Route 358 to Route 58 for additional road work next year.

In 2025, work will include improvements to three intersections, including realignments on Route 18 and Route 58, Route 18 and Packard Avenue and Route 58 and Packard Avenue.

Other work includes upgrading the sidewalk, installing ADA-compliant curb ramps, driveway entrances, milling and paving, base repair and more.

Overall, the project is expected to be completed in October of next year.
