Frozen waffles sold at several stores across the country, including Target, Giant Eagle and Walmart are being recalled due to possible listeria contamination.
TreeHouse Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain frozen waffle products that were distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The waffles were packaged and distributed in various formats, including Target's Good and Gather brand, Great Value, Kodiak Cakes, Giant Eagle brand and Food Lion brand.
The notice of the voluntary recall was posted on the TreeHouse Foods website, and a full list of affected brands can be found there.
The possible contamination was discovered during routine testing at a manufacturing facility. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Consumers should check their freezers for any of the products and dispose of them or return the recalled product to the place of purchase for credit. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-596-2903, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
No illnesses have been reported from this recall.
