Three-vehicle crash - including an ambulance - has westbound lane of US Route 224 closed in Boardman

A three-vehicle crash caused the westbound lane of US Route 224 to be closed in Boardman on Tuesday morning.

The crash involved three vehicles, including an ambulance, at Trenholm Road across from Boardman Plaza.

The crash happened at 10:54 am, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatch.

OSP tells 21 News the ambulance with lights and sirens activated was heading east on Route 224 and went into the westbound lanes to go around stopped traffic in the lanes.

A Dodge Durango, also heading eastbound on 224 was attempting to turn onto Trenholm Road and collided with the ambulance, causing the Durango to spin into a gold Chevy Malibu stopped in the westbound lanes.

Four people were transported for possible injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
