CycWard Bike Club is back this year with their annual event, Glow the Yo, after taking a rest last year. They invite riders of all ages and ability on a night ride this Saturday, October 26.
Riders can meet at 6:30 p.m. at the CycWard Bike Shop on 1205 Elm Street, Youngstown, Ohio. The ride begins at 7 p.m.
After the 8-mile ride, participants can meet up and socialize at Dalia's Caribbean Kitchen for food and refreshments.
YoGo Bikeshare, the city's new e-bike rideshare company, will be making a limited number of e-bikes available for rental. You can find details on renting here.
Safety is heavily encouraged by organizers, stating that helmets are required to ride. Bikes should also have front and rear reflectors, and additional lights since the ride will be occurring after sunset.
All participants will also receive free bike lights courtesy of Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.
To make this year more special, there are two opportunities to win $50 gift cards to local restaurants. These gift cards are generously donated by the Out-Spokin' Wheelmen Bicycle Club.
The first category is for the rider with the "Brightest Bike", and the second category is for the rider with the "Best Decorated Bike".
More information on this event can be found on the CycWard Bike Club Facebook page.
This year, organizers want to highlight recent bicycle safety improvements throughout downtown Youngstown. Glow the Yo will provide participants with an opportunity to connect, or reconnect, with the joy of bicycling and to celebrate community.
CycWard is grateful for the continued support from the City of Youngstown, the City of Youngstown Police Department, Youngstown 3rd Ward Councilperson Samantha Turner, YoGo Bikeshare, the Out-Spokin' Wheelmen, and Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.
