7 17 Credit Union has announced an expanded commitment to the Youngstown community, including a new initiative to revitalize downtown small businesses.
The credit union says it will provide up to $1 million in funding to support local businesses and drive economic growth through a strategy dubbed “Forever Youngstown.”
A news release from the credit union notes that downtown businesses have struggled over the past few years, starting with the pandemic and subsequent road closures, restructuring, and infrastructure improvements. Most recently, the natural gas explosion in May brought additional challenges to the area’s commerce.
“We believe that a thriving downtown is essential to the health and vitality of our community,” said John Demmler, President and CEO of 7 17 Credit Union. “We are committed to partnering with local leaders and businesses to create a more vibrant and prosperous Youngstown.”
7 17 Credit Union will offer up to $250 in gift cards to downtown businesses for every auto loan refinanced through the credit union. The gift cards can be used at participating local businesses, helping to stimulate economic activity and support the community.
Businesses interested in participating in Forever Youngstown are encouraged to contact Dorian Smith, Senior Vice President of Business Development at 7 17 Credit Union.
