Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will make a stop in Columbiana County for a book reading on Monday.
DeWine has long made child literacy a focus of his administration, and is celebrating the opening of a new resource that he hopes will "inspire a lifelong love of reading in children."
The Governor, alongside First Lady Fran DeWine, will visit the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program clinic in Lisbon Monday.
The Lisbon office recently installed a new reading space for children and their families, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Health and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio. The reading space is colorful and cozy, designed for kids to sit and read as their families spend time at the clinic.
The space includes a QR code for families to scan and enroll their children in the Imagination Library of Ohio, which mails children one free book a month until their 5th birthday. Currently, 62% of eligible Ohio kids are enrolled in the program.
