DiFabio elected as Mahoning Co. Commissioner, dethroning longtime commissioner Ditzler

In the General Election, two of the three commissioner’s seats in Mahoning County were up for reelection.

Beyond Anthony Traficanti's seat, longtime Mahoning County Commissioner David Ditzler’s (D) was challenged by Republican candidate Geno DiFabio, who challenged Carol Rimedio-Righetti in 2022 for her commissioner seat and narrowly lost by just a few hundred votes.

DiFabio defeated Ditzler by a margin of 53,868 to 51,873.

Ditzler has served as Mahoning County Commissioner since 2013 and lives in Austintown. He also served as an Austintown Trustee from 1994 through 2012.

DiFabio lives in Youngstown and works as a truck driver.
