Ginter defeats Cox in Columbiana Commissioner race

In the Columbiana County Commissioner race, while two seats are up, only one has an opponent.

For the seat commencing January 2, Republican Tim Ginter easily defeated Democratic Challenger Ray Cox with 34,663 votes to Cox's 11,264 votes.

Ginter defeated John Williams in the March primary for the to move forward as the Republican candidate in the race.

Ginter, an ordained minister, was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives 5th District through 2022 when the redrawn district went to Monica Robb Blasdel.

Cox, a veteran and former law officer who went on to work in private industry, said he wanted to run to give the people of the county a voice in government again.

The seat was previously held by Commissioner Tim Weigle since 2012.

Roy Paparodis was unchallenged for a second term for the seat commencing January 3.

County commissioners are elected to serve four-year terms.
