TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH -

Sheriff races in Ohio are voted on every four years. Two of the three sheriffs in the Mahoning Valley faced no opponent in the General Election, with Sheriff Jerry Green retaining his role in Mahoning County and Sheriff Brain McLaughlin continuing in Columbiana County.

The race for Trumbull County Sheriff went to Mike Wilson (R) with 51.2% of the vote.

Wilson unseats Paul Monroe (D) who has served as sheriff since 2017.

Prior to becoming Sheriff, Monroe served for 29 years with the Howland Police Department.

Wilson defeated candidate John Barco as the Republican challenger for the seat in the March primary.

Wilson is a veteran and worked for 31 years for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He also serves as a Hartford Township Trustee.
