After getting 51.2% of the votes, Mike Wilson will take over as Trumbull County Sheriff.
Wilson will officially take office in January 2025 and he has big plans for the road ahead. He told 21 News that he is ready to change the culture of the sheriff's office.
He first wants to start with subsidizing the budget and controlling office spending while creating an atmosphere of transparency.
The sheriff-elect said he also wants to establish a junior deputy program for the youth in the county.
"We're going to run that like a Boy Scout program where we are going to be able to reach children and try to keep them off the streets and off of drugs," Wilson said.
Tackling the drug and addiction issue in Trumbull County is another top priority for Wilson. His plan is to reestablish an addiction counseling program for jail inmates.
Wilson said during his first 100 days though, he hopes to add more corrections officers to his staff.
