Irish & Raiders end season in state semi finals

The Ursuline and South Range football saw their seasons end in the state semi finals.

The Irish (13-2) lost to Toledo Central Catholic in the final few minutes of play.   TCC scored with :33 left and kicked the extra point to take a 7-6 lead.

Ursuline worked the ball inside the 30 with :2 left but a gusty wind  pushed a potential game winning 44 yard field goal to the left as time expired

Ursuline's two losses were by a combined 3 points, losing to Walsh Jesuit in the opener (37-35).

The Irish did not score a touchdown for the first time since 2019.

South Range (14-1)  trailed 14-0 early in the first quarter only to tie the game but were outscored 34-0 over the final two and a half quarters and lost for the first time, 48-14.

That's the biggest deficit since 2012 when Crestview beat the Raiders 57-14.

In their five playoff games the Raiders declined in points each game. After scoring 59 against i Fairless in the opening round, they had  49 vs. Girard, 42 vs. Garaway, 17 vs. Poland and 14 vs. Liberty Center.
