Brookfield police arrest man after 911 caller reports woman screaming she 'didn't want to die'

A caller into Trumbull County 911 Tuesday night told dispatch they could hear a woman in the apartment building screaming she didn't want to die.

Brookfield police responded to the call in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue at 8:33 pm Tuesday and took one man into custody, according to the call summary notes.

Court filings for the Eastern District Court of Trumbull County show a 24-year-old man — Byron Evans — of the same address listed on the police CAD sheet was charged with felony assault and strangulation on Tuesday.

Evans is due in court on Thursday at 8:45 am for arraignment on the charges.
