Speed limit restored on I-80 in Mercer, Venango Counties

PennDOT has restored the usual speed limit on Interstate 80 in Mercer and Venango Counties.

Speeds had been reduced earlier Thursday after several accidents snarled traffic along I-80 between the state line and the Mercer exit.

A tractor trailer crash not far from the state line kept traffic at a standstill for hours.

At one point, ODOT used plows to block the interchange in Hubbard to prevent traffic from backing up more.

By 8:30 a.m., traffic was starting to move again.
