An emergency meeting for the Mahoning County Board of Commissioners has been canceled after Mahoning County Clerk of Court elect Michael Ciccone was able to secure a bond.
Outgoing Mahoning County Commissioner David Ditzler told 21 News Ciccone an emergency meeting had been scheduled Tuesday morning because Ciccone was having trouble securing a bond, which all elected officials are required to do before they take office.
Commissioners were supposed to discuss options to resolve this issue during the meeting.
However, as of 8:45 a.m., the meeting has been canceled after commissioners were informed that Ciccone was able to secure a bond.
Mahoning County Administrator Audrey Tillis tells 21 News Ciccone notified the county via email that he had secured a bond just before 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Ciccone explained to 21 News he was notified of the bond issue on Monday. From there, he reached out to various companies and was able to secure a bond without issue.
Ciccone went on to say he did not know the reason for the issue with the original company.
"When I called these companies, they were curious as to why I was put into this position. ... I don't know if it was a technicality or a lack of communication," Ciccone said.
Ciccone is scheduled to take office December 26.
