Efforts to reopen the recently closed Sharon Regional Medical Center continue, according to the Tenor Health Foundation CEO Radha Savitala.

While the goal was to have the facility reopened by Friday, that didn't come to fruition. However, the CEO provided 21 News with an update on where everything stands regarding the reopening of the hospital.

"We wanted to update you on the status of the reopening of the hospital. We continue to work diligently with the [Pennsylvania] Department of Health in reopening of our hospital."

Savitala continued, "They have committed to us to work as expeditiously as possible to ensure a smooth opening with our hospital."

The CEO said that all the information has been submitted to the Department of Health for review.

Earlier this week, in a sit-down interview with Savitala, she said that Tenor Health has an arrangement to buy the building from MPT but does not have any timeline for when.

The hospital closed in early January after negotiations for the purchase took several last-minute concerns between the parties that were looking at buying the former Steward Health-run facility.
