What a difference a week makes! Last week we were talking about sub-zero wind chills and this week we have a spring in our step and spring on our mind. There was a BIG improvement in the weather department to kickoff the workweek. Monday’s afternoon temperatures soared to the upper 40s as those marks were transported in by a pesky, gusty wind that peaked at 36 mph.
For the homestretch of February there will be no harsh Arctic blasts in sight! In fact, it looks as though we are all done with Mother Nature reminiscing about the "good ol’ days" when winter wintered. What’s left of the cold season can only physically be so brutal as the sun gets higher and higher in the sky! Currently our February sun angle that is comparable to how the sun feels in mid October - to put it in perspective.
We continue to melt our temporary snowy mounds in the parking lot on this Tuesday with temps soaring, once again into the upper 40s despite rain showers. Morning rush raindrops will become less abundant through the day. 40s are in the forecast for Tuesday and we may approach 50 by Wednesday with a mix of sun and clouds after some morning fog.
Another quick moving system will wring out rain showers Wednesday late-day with steady rain expected while most sleep. Temperatures will be falling into the upper 20s by Thursday night and that may mean a few rain/snow showers before this system wraps up.
It looks like March will come in on an active breeze with mild air expected on Saturday and a couple rain showers. Flakes may fly as temperatures fall throughout the day. No big storms to start the month - which is always nice. The mercury will drop again by the second half of the weekend as temps fluctuate back and forth during the transition between seasons. The official first day of meteorological spring is 4 days away on March 1, while the spring equinox falls on March 20.
