A Trumbull County grand jury has secretly indicted Liberty Township woman on 15 felony counts of deception to obtain a dangerous drug.

Melissa White, 43, is accused of using blank prescription forms to obtain the prescription drug alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, between November 2022 and August 2023.

The indictment, filed in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, alleges White “by deception, did procure the administration of, a prescription for, or the dispensing of, a dangerous drug.” Alprazolam is a Schedule IV controlled substance.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, benzodiazepines, including alprazolam, are depressants that produce sedation, relieve anxiety and muscle spasms, and reduce seizures. They are legally available only through prescription.

White was booked into the county jail on Sunday. An arraignment date for White was not immediately available.
