The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking feedback from the public on a bridge improvement project in the City of Sharon.

The project calls for the replacement of the bridge that carries Service Avenue over Pine Run. The bridge is located between the intersection with Memorial Boulevard and the intersection with East Connelly Boulevard.

The bridge was built in 1951 and is currently classified as poor condition. It has a weight limit of 13 tons and about 1,650 vehicles use the bridge per day on average.

Work will include replacing the existing bridge with concreate box culvert, as well as paving on each side of the bridge and Memorial Boulevard and guiderail updates.

Construction is expected to begin during the 2026 construction season. During this time, a 1.5-mile detour will be in place for about four months.

The detour will utilize Service Avenue, Plum Street, Memorial Boulevard, Leslie Street, Route 518 (Stambaugh Avenue) and Route 62 (East Connelly Boulevard).

Anyone who has any comments, questions or concerns about the project can submit them in the online form here. Comments will be accepted between now and May 7, 2025.

If you cannot access the online form you can also submit feedback by emailing kybarker@pa.gov or by calling 814-678-7166.
