Gun found in vehicle at Chaney High School

Police are investigating after a gun was found in a  vehicle at Chaney High School Monday afternoon.

A representative for the Youngstown City School District tells 21 News the gun belonged to a student and was found in a vehicle in the parking lot following a tip.

The gun never made it inside the school and no shots were fired from it. Everyone in the building is safe and the building is secured.

The district has not said if any charges will be filed or if anyone was arrested. 

The situation remains an active investigation.
