Repair project on bridge in Grove City to begin next month

A repair project of the bridge that takes Route 58 over Wolf Creek located between the intersection with Route 173 and the intersection with Greenwood Dr. is set to begin next Month.

The bridge was originally constructed in 1967 and is in poor condition. This maintenance project may be necessary to keep this bridge up with the 10,600 vehicles that drive over the bridge daily.

The planned repairs for this project include removing and replacing the superstructure, repairing the abutments and pier, installing new concrete bridge beams, a new concrete deck, a new barrier, pavement, updating the guide rail and painting the lines.

This project necessitates a detour, which will be posted using Route 208, Route 8, and Route 58. The detour will be in place for 15 weeks, or until approximately August 23.

The contract is through Plum Contracting of Greensburg and is funded with $1.86 million in state funding.

PennDOT urges Pennsylvania motorists to drive carefully through work zones and be mindful of both workers and flaggers.

This repair project is set to officially begin on May 12.
