Burlington Coat Factory is taking over the leases of 45 former Joann Fabric stores around the country, including the building in the Shops at Boardman Park.
According to a filing in bankruptcy court, Burlington has agreed to assume the lease of the 28,880 square foot building at 441 Boardman Poland Road on June 1. RAF Investments of Liberty Township owns the property.
Burlington currently operates a store along Route 224, less than two miles west of the former Joann building, and another store in Niles that opened in 2018.
21 News has reached out to Burlington asking about its plans for the Shops at Boardman Park building, and if it will have an impact on the other Boardman store. As of early Thursday, Burlington had not responded.
According to Burlington’s last quarterly report, the company plans to open 100 new locations this year.
Joann filed bankruptcy earlier this year, closing stores around the country, including those in Boardman, Niles, and Hermitage. The Niles and Hermitage buildings are not among the 45 Joann leases being taken over by Burlington.
