Drivers hospitalized after head-on crash in Slippery Rock Twp.

Two people are hospitalized after a head-on crash in Slippery Rock Township.

The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Route 19 (Perry Highway) near Hunt Road.

The two cars hit head-on, leading to one of the drivers, a man in his 70s, being trapped inside his vehicle.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital.

Medical helicopters were called to the scene to transport the victims but couldn't fly due to the weather.

According to Slippery Rock Township Fire Chief Charles Peak, dispatch was contacted by an automatic crash notification which helped the fire department get to the scene within two minutes.

The roadway was closed for nearly two hours.

The condition of the victims is unknown.
